Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy has been developed by Michael White in Australia and David Epston in New Zealand. See http://www.dulwichcentre.com for more information. Over the years Narrative Therapy has developed a range of therapeutic practices to help people develop richer descriptions of their lives,

  • Re-authoring conversations
  • Re-membering conversations
  • Externalisation
  • Therapeutic documents
  • Definitional ceremony
  • Training in Narrative Therapy provides practitioners with an opportunity to explore the Narrative approach to therapeutic work and test the practices most appropriate to their agency settings. Training can be delivered through one day or two day formats with an option of a follow up day at a later date.

    Systemic Practice

Systemic Practice has developed over several decades in a variety of centres around the world. Systemic Practice is based on the belief that people are heavily influenced by the interactions they participate in, the social systems they are part of. Helping people to change, therefore, may need to take account of the impact of these changes on the people they are most involved with. Systemic practice can be used to inform one to one work or equip practitioners to work with the key social systems which people are part of. Look at http://www.aft.org.uk for more information. Training in Systemic Practice provides practitioners with an opportunity to explore systemic thinking and acquaint themselves with the main approaches to therapeutic work which have developed over the years such as,

  • Structural
  • Strategic
  • Milan
  • Reflecting teams
  • Solution Focused
  • Narrative
  • Training can be delivered through one day or two day formats with an option of a follow up day at a later date.
