18 years experience of providing Solution Focused training to a wide variety of practitioners, team building, facilitation and clinical supervision.

30 years experience as Social Worker/Family Therapist in a Tier III Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service.

  • Co-developed a multidisciplinary Day Assessment model for complex child protection issues.
  • Editor of Solution-focused Research Review, a publication to promote research in Solution-focused Practice produced by the UK Association for Solution-focused Practice. See www.sfrr.co.uk
  • Co-founder of Brief Therapy North East (www.btne.org), a regional network for practitioners using solution-focused practice in a wide range of settings with a membership of over 300.

  • Annual Study Day providing a platform for practitioners in the region to share their use of Solution Focused Brief Therapy in a range of situations.
  • Annual two day workshop by international presenters in the field of Brief Therapy.
  • Consultant to Passport to Services, a Trailblazer Information Sharing & Assessment project adapting Solution Focused practice to front line child services.

  • Trained 300 practitioners and managers in a wide range of front line services engaged with children and young people.
  • Co-developed Signs of Wellbeing, a common assessment form for early intervention with children & young people.
  • Co-developed and moderate Solution Talk, an on-line discussion forum for practitioners in Gateshead & Newcastle who use Solution Focused Practice with children & young people.
  • Member of DfES working party on common assessment creating national policy guidance in support of 2004 Children's Bill.
